I am trying to download the latest firmware for the Bomebox. When I click on the download link the window shows a bunch of characters (similar to the output you get when you try to display a binary file at a command prompt). I tried to download earlier versions of the firmware and got the same result. Please advise.

Hi Greg,
I just tried it and it worked. However depending on which OS and browser you are running, it is possible that the extension of the firmware download is telling your OS to open it using a given application. Did you try right clicking and then selecting “Save Download as”, instead of simply clicking the link?

Hi Steve,
Thanks for the quick response. I did as you suggested (right click/save as) and was able to successfully download the firmware file.
BTW: When I previously attempted the download, I did so from a Windows 10 PC using Microsoft Edge. I also tried using Internet Explorer.

Interesting. Not sure why these browsers see these as executable files of sort. I don’t have the problem or Chrome or Firefox. I don’t use Edge or IE.
Glad you got it working!

Hi, it turned out that our web server was not configured to deliver BomeBox firmware files as a download file (the MIME type), so some browsers would assume it to be a text file. It’s fixed now, downloads should work fine also in Internet Explorer and Edge.

Thanks, Florian! At least we had a workaround but now hopefully it will be easier for others.
