Akai APC 40 MKii Change Mode

Hey!

Can anyone help me creating a message to change the mode to Alternate Ableton Live.

From what i have been reading, the message needs to be send every time i reconnect the apc right?

is there a way to make it auto?

Hi, the below should be sent to the device when powered on. After that you are good until it is either powered of or some other application switches it back to a different mode. I usually send this at startup when opening the project.

Here are the modes for the APC40 MK2

0x40 Generic (Startup Default) Track select Radio- Channel Toggle

0x41 Ableton Live (LED Ring Remote Controlled) Momentary All

0x42 Alternate Ableton Live Momentary All

Your welcome! This information is an the AkaiPro APC40 MKII programmers guide but since I have one I happened to have this information at my fingertips. This was really not a Bome related question. If you need help in creating a solution and do not which to program in MT Pro yourself, I’m available for fee based services at the email below. Since I have this device I would be actually able to complete testing without having to “emulate” the target controller.

i m a newbie with APC 40 and i want to run it for vidéo, not for Live

Hi, the code provided above is not specific to Live. It will put the APC40 in the mode you want for any application you are using it with. In most cases, I would put it in Mode 0x41 and control all of the LED’s with MT Pro (or the target application if it supports it). I use this mode when connecting to GrandMA2 and other applications as well.

If you have a more specific question on a given action that you want translated, please post your question on a new thread with the specifics of the target controller, the target application, the OS platform the application is running, etc.

i use modul8 and Madmapper, there is no way to manage modes in those soft

Typically, I have the incoming trigger as project opened, with an outgoing action of a timer with a name like “APCInit”.

Then a separate translator with incoming trigger of timer “APCInit” and an outgoing action of Raw MIDI F0 47 7F 29 60 00 04 41 08 02 01 F7 to APC40 MK2.

You could also add another timer with incoming trigger of the keystroke that you want and the same timer output. That way you could trigger the Init stream with either the project open or keystroke using the same timer.

ok I am trying to do the same thing and it is not working I have set up a Translator 1= incoming trigger Project opened with outgoing action of one-shot timer "APCInit": 1000ms delay Translator 2= incoming trigger: On timer "APCInit" with outgoing action: midi message Raw midi /System Exclusive F0 47 7F 29 60 00 04 41 08 02 01 F7 then i have specific ports selected and a check mark next to AKAI APC40 midi out port what connections do i need to make in my midi router? is there a way you could do a quick phone call or FaceTime?

Hi,

Are you using APC40 or APC40 MKII?  The APC40 (original) init sequence is different.

Also, make sure you don't have another application holding the APC40 port open. Some DAW's (like Ableton Live) try to access the port directly so it is better you start up MT Pro first to ensure it has access to the port, then in the DAW, select a Bome Virtual Port instead of the actual device port.

Notes Regarding Ableton Live Mode (Mode 1):

- All buttons are momentary buttons.

- Device control knobs and buttons are not banked within the APC40 Mk2.

- LED Rings around the knobs are controlled by the APC40 but can be updated by the Host.

- All other LEDs are controlled by the Host.
