Hi, I've recently purchased Bome Midi Translator Pro (v.1.8.3 build 892) after using the trial for a few months.
I'm using an Akai AFX to control Photoshop and other editing apps. Since I installed the full licensed version (standard install) when I try to Capture MIDI I only get 1 MIDI code appear in the Capture window. No Note On CC channels are showing up. Previously on the trial version I would see both MIDI entries and Note On CC entries. Am I missing something ? Do I need to enable a setting ? Any help would be appreciated.

Are the Note On messages you’re expecting showing up in the log window? With the Midi In box checked?

No when I attempt to capture MIDI nothing shows up in the log window. The corresponding MIDI message shows up in the Incoming Capture MIDI window but not the Control Change messages. Previously (in the trial version) both would appear in the Capture MIDI window. I reinstalled trial version 1.8.2 as a test and the Control Change entries appear as well as the MIDI entries, when I then reinstall the full 1.8.3 Licensed version the Control Change entries do not appear. I tested the different versions using the same MIDI input and BOME MIDI/VIRTUAL outputs. I am trying to build a SHIFT layer to add more functionality to my Akai AFX control surface. On the hardware unit there is a dial rotary encoder which I currently use as a Zoom in and Zoom out knob in photoshop and other video editing apps. That function works fine in the licensed version. I wish to add a SHIFT layer so when I press SHIFT I can use the same rotary encoder which I use to Zoom to then change brush sizes in Photoshop. I have found a video tutorial which demonstrates how to create a SHIFT layer (switcher) but the code requires access to the Control Change messages which no longer show up in the Incoming capture MIDI window.

Hi,
First of all make sure no other applications are opening your MIDI port. When you open your Akai AFX for input, does it show open on the right hand side of the screen as the screen shot shows for my IAC port below?
Then open the log Window and check MIDI IN. As shown in the other screen shot and then move any controller. Note there is a difference between MIDI IN (which will capture all incoming MIDI messages) and Incoming (which will only capture programmed incoming actions).

Hi. thanks. Yes both, my Akai AFX is showing as OPEN in INPUT and after ticking the MIDI IN check box at the bottom of the log window the problem persists. Only the MIDI #### number appears in the Incoming Capture MIDI window.
Yet when I revert back to the trial version 1.8.2 or earlier the problem goes away.

OK so you are seeing MIDI messages but in Raw format such as the below?

If you want to see in non raw format, right click within the MIDI capture window and the uncheck “Raw Capture”.

Thanks, that works. But now only non raw is showing where previously both raw and non raw would appear. Not perfect but now that I know how to access the non raw it should be usable. I will test it out before I mark it as resolved.

OK, I don’t remember ever seeing both. I usually select raw or not depending on how I want to capture the message. I’ve never seen it display both at the same time.

Perhaps both only appeared simultaneously in the trial versions. Thanks again. I’ve successfully managed to create a SHIFT layer which will add much more functionality to my Akai AFX. I will mark as resolved.
