port state

I would like to know if there is a way to stop a device connecting to BOME MT.

I am using BMT for all my controllers but it does not work very well with my Novation Launch kontrol so I decided to use my novation (with Cubase) separately. the only problem is that it only works well when I close the ports, see pic attached, and it seems that I have to do this every time I start BMT (swhich is a bit annoying) as the port state setting does not appear to be saved with the bmtp file.

Any advice?

Hi,

My best guess  (without seeing your project file) is that you have in your project files translators or port assignments that define the target input or output as your Launch Control XL, so the project file assumes you will be using it when it opens. If you remove all references to this device (both within default ports and in translators) in the project file, then MT Pro should no longer attempt to open the port.

If you want it so that sometimes it uses your controller an other times it does not, then you can set up an alias  like “My Launch Control”  and point it to your real device when you want to use it and point it to an unused port when you don’t.

However if you have MIDI Thru paths defined in you project, you should still be able to use MT Pro all the time and just have Cubase connect to the Bome Virtual Ports of your MIDI thru paths that you are using in MT Pro. In this case start MT Pro first so that Cubase doesn’t try to query the controller directly. If MT Pro is already open and using the port then Cubase won’t be able to access the controller and instead you point it to a set of BMT ports.

I hope this helps!
