I'm trying to restore the original sounds on my old roland D10. I’ve downloaded the original sounds from the Roland website. When I try to install them via Midi, Bome always stops at the sending line 2/166 and reports “not responding”. I have tried both under windows 7 and windows 10 but it’s the same. As a midi interface I use an Otracki usb to midi. Can anyone help me?

Thanks in advance

I've never hear of Otracki usb to midi but that would be my first suspect. Many USB to MIDI converters are built for performance only meaning only 2 or 3 byte MIDI message at a time.  Many of these converters have small buffer size and cannot handle System Exclusive message as they can only buffer a small number of data bytes.

Firt though I would try going to  options->settings  in SendSX and set split long message, throttling and put it at the slowest speed.

(See picture).

If that does't work I've heard that the Roland UM1 works and I have a iConnectivity MIO 1 that also works.

Hi Steve

I tried your solution but doesn't work (same result).

Here below the midi interface that I use

https://www.amazon.it/OTraki-Otraki-cavo-USB-MIDI/dp/B07KYDP3GK

Somewhere (in the dark) I should have an old Us-122 (see the photo), I could try with that, what do you think about it?

Hi, I don't know if it will work or not. Maybe another thing to try with your current adapter is to reverse the IN and OUT cables. It is possible you have them backwards. Usually you have to connect In on your adapter to out on your keyboard and visa versa.

Hi, I had already tried to invert the cables but it didn't work (same error message),
I will try with another midi interface.
Thanks for everything.
