As in the title I am looking to translate keystrokes, namely num1, num2 etc into Momentary midi cc commands for use in ableton. Is this possible? I have only got as far as getting them to toggle which is no use as I could just use the key mapping in ableton. Some kind of coding I must implement? Thanks

It can be done, however the original keystroke will not be supressed so if it used somewhere else on your computer, it would still perform the original function.

Cheers for getting back Steve, how can I go about making it momentary? What should I look into learning? The numkeys are'nt really used so I am not too bothered unless its possible to suppress their function as well?

Yes, the below example should get you there. I look at Num0 down to send CC0 at value 127 and Num0 up to send CC0 at value of 0.
