I have set up Cubase to send Mackie HUI information to Bome MTP via the virtual in. I am using this to change presets when I select different tracks inside Cubase. I am finding though that on changing track or doing anything with my MIDI device that is going into Bome MTP then to Cubase and then back to Bome MTP, Bome is receiving enormous amounts of raw Midi data, all of which looks like this:
354: MIDI IN [Bome MIDI Translator 1 Virtual In]: B0 2C 04
355: MIDI IN [Bome MIDI Translator 1 Virtual In]: B0 0C 1C
356: MIDI IN [Bome MIDI Translator 1 Virtual In]: B0 2C 05
357: MIDI IN [Bome MIDI Translator 1 Virtual In]: 90 00 00
On changing track in Cubase there are at least 550 of these messages sent. Like there is a loop or something.
The last message there is like a clock or something. It is being sent every second.
Is there a way to reduce the amount of data received by Bome MTP or sent by Cubase?, as all this data is affecting Bomes ability to process other commands i.e. activate/deactivate presets. Cheers

Hi Jesse,
Judging from the messages, it appears that you are using HUI Mode in Cubase. The messages you are seeing are a combination of HUI Ping and fader movement messages. The HUI ping happens about once per second and a HUI type MIDI controller responds to tell the application it is still there. The fader messages occur when you change banks, signalling a controller that has motorized faders to move to the new position for that bank. These messages are OK for MT Pro and will not slow it down, however you should generally NOT pass through these messages to the attached MIDI controller (unless it is a Mackie HUI compatible controller). If you do not want to use HUI mode (don't have an attached HUI compatible controller), then in Cubase go to the Studio setup and delete the HUI mode definitions, there and the messages will cease. There are other HUI specific messages as well (update LED displays, update meters). Again, removing the HUI definitions in Cubase will stop these messages.

Hi,
Thanks for the timely reply. Where might I find these HUI mode definitions in Cubase.

Yep, that is it. Just click Mackie HUI and then after selected, click the minus sign above. That will remove it.

Although if you are using HUI for some other reason. Leave it and just make sure that you ignore the MIDI messages in MT Pro coming from BMT 1. As long as there are no translators that use them or a MIDI through path back to your controller, they shouldn’t hurt anything.

Hi, thanks again for the reply. If I delete the Mackie HUI in Cubase, Cubase no longer sends raw MIDI to Bome MTP.
How would I go about your second suggestion "Leave it and just make sure that you ignore the MIDI messages in MT Pro coming from BMT 1"? This looks like the only solution at this point.

To not pass anything back to the the controller.
1) Do not have MIDI thru path from your Bome Virtual Port Cubase sends to and the MIDI controller.
2) Don't have any translators that receive from Cubase and send to your MIDI controller.
You will still see the messages in MT Pro if you have MIDI in checked for the log but they will be safely ignored.

Hi,
Thanks for trying to sought this out for me. I am Still having issues where Bome MTP is actually freezing up due to so much processing when I simply press a pad on my launchpad with the Mackie HUI data coming from Cubase that is over 550 messages. I don't quite know how to disable the Thru you mentioned. Attached is a picture of my ports. As far as I can see there shouldn't be anything sent to my launch pad. It really is as if there is some sort of loop going on.

Hi,
In your presets, if you don't select specific ports, everything will come to and go to everything. I suggest you review the following video and ensure you presets are only looking from and sending to the given ports you want them to go to.
