Four years, and I still have problems with Aliases

I've been using BMT for more than four years no, but almost every time I start BMT I have to wrestle with it before actually making music with it. I'm baffled. I seem to have many midi ports and aliases and "autos" that aren't used, in fact which no longer exist, but which are in the list of midi ports. My setup uses 3 keyboards, a Launchpad, midi-ox, and an audio interface.. Over the years, I've replaced some controllers and audio devices with others, but the old ones are still in the list of ports, and there are aliases for them. In fact, I'm told, on startup, that a certain midi device (which I no longer have) is not connected. I can't seem to whittle the list down to just the devices I have. Can anyone help, please?

I somehow missed that topic, though I did search on the word "alias". But I'm so pleased that there's a solution. I can't try it immediately, but when I do, I'll report back.
