moving faders on bcf2000 thru bmt from grandma2

Hi,

I am using a bcf2000 to control a GrandMA2 onpc software what is working well thanks to BMT. But i get stuck on moving the motor faders on the bcf2000 from the GrandMA2 onpc.

i have the faders on preset 1 of the bcf2000 output on NRPN 7-bit on channel 10 msb 0 lsb 0 thru 7 "pp" set to value

BMT Translates this to a note on ch 10 note 0 thru 7 "pp" to value

in GrandMa2 this entry is assigned to the first 8 executors

all of this works well.

BUT... when i move a fader by mouse in the GrandMA2 software the midi output is seen by BMT as a RAW midi format
example for fader 1 the output is F0 7F 7F 02 7F 06 00 01 60 41 F7 and i have no idea on how to translate this to a control change or a nrpn message.

can someone help me on this please?

Hi Krips,
can you please enable the Log Window in MT Pro, and enable MIDI IN. Then move the fader in GrandMA2 with the mouse from bottom to top. Like that, we can see the format it is using, and hopefully derive a way to convert it to a control change message in MT Pro.

Hi Florian,

As far as i understand now, the grandMA2 uses Midi Show Control (MSC) messages for the output. I am not sure it outputs the fader position with it and how this format works. But as you asked below i paste the log window for moving fader1 up and down.

Sorry the list is just this long.
The long ones must me a cue on and a cue off command.
I think the first 2 of the last 3 hex codes must be the value of the faderposition, something like F0 7F 7F 02 7F 00 01 xx yy F7 probably in 16bit they start as 40 00 go to 7f 7f in the middle and then to 00 00.
maybe just ignoring xx would already be good enough for fader feedback.
not sure how to translate this to a cc format.

this was for moving from bottom to top? Strange, I should read in the MSC spec how it's meant to be! Or have you moved the fader down to the bottom, too?

Anyway, as you propose, we can start off ignoring xx and just using yy:

  Outgoing: MIDI Control Change Channel 1, CC#1, value: yy
You should create an own preset (in the left preset list) in MIDI Translator Pro for the direction GrandMA2 --> BCF2000. Then, in the preset properties: in MIDI IN, check Bome Virtual 1, and in MIDI OUT, check BCF2000.

Great i got them moving :) thanks.

I include the Sysex for the bcf2000, the BMT project and the midiremotes for the GMA2 for other entousiasts.

Getting feedback to 14-bit would be nice tho, any suggestions on how to include this?

For all entousiasts,

Programs needed:
Bome send sx : https://www.bome.com/products/sendsx/downloads
Bome Midi Translator Pro : https://www.bome.com/products/miditranslator/purchase
GrandMA2onpc : http://www.malighting.com/en/support-do ... tware.html

Hardware needed:
Behringer BCF2000
A PC or laptop

If you need to output dmx:
A MA node or commandwing or any MA console that is in your MAnetwork (to give you rights for dmx-output)

1 I send the .syx file thru BOME send sx to the bcf2000

1 open send sx
2 open the midi in menu
3 choose "BCF2000 port 1"
4 open midi out menu
5 choose "BCF2000 port 2"
6 open the file menu
7 choose "open"
8 select the "KrispyMidi_v*.syx" file
9 hit the "Send(F4)" button

if your midi ports are correctly set it should send the file to your BCF2000

2 start BMT software and open the KrispyMidi_v* project

3 Get your midiremotes in the correct folder

1 paste the KrispyMidi_v*.xml in importexport folder of grandMA2.
Should be something like "C:\ProgramData\MA Lighting Technologies\grandma\gma2_V_3.2.2\importexport"

4 open GrandMa2 program

1 at the commandline: import "KrispyMidi_v*" at remote 2
2 click on the yellow ball top left on your command screen
3 choose "options ..."
4 choose the midi tab
5 set the midi in to "Bome Midi Translator 1" and midi out to "Bome Midi Translator 2"

you are ready to fly ;)

encodergrp 1 is the 4 encoders of your GMA if selected thru the encodergrp 4 key and fader 9 thru 12 on encoders 5 thru 8
the encodergrp 3 key on your bcf2000 is the encoder resolution
the encodergrp 4 key is the assignment of the first 4 encoderweels on encodergrp 1
encodergrp 2 is all blade attributes on one page
