Midi translating stops when Ableton is the active window

I have an entry that converts a keystroke to midi but whenever I have the ableton window active, bome stops translating. I know my entry works because when I make Bome the active window I can see the MIDI Led flashing (as well as the key led). Is there any way I can keep ableton active and still use bome to translate keystrokes to midi?

Is the key you are using already assigned in Ableton as a keystroke? If so, can you remove it?

Does MIDI Translator stop translating altogether? Can you put both windows on the screen, focus on Ableton, and see whether or not MIDI Translator is actively receiving and just not translating?
