MK functional without a sequencer?

Hi - I'm sorry for asking what is probably a dumb question, but I couldn't figure out by downloading and reading the manual - Can I play tunes using just MK and the sound card that is any commercial computer - i.e., no Cubase, ProTools, etc.?
